Product / UI Designer Intern
1. About the Role#
This is a full-time, remote internship role.
As a Product/UI Designer Intern, you will own the visual direction of Atomity, defining how the product looks, feels, and communicates by producing design implementations that developers can directly work from.
2. What You Will Work On#
- Define and establish a clear visual design direction for the Atomity product and marketing site
- Create high-fidelity UI designs and interactive prototypes in Figma
- Build and maintain a reusable design system (components, tokens, typography, colour palettes)
- Produce developer-ready design specs and handoff assets for the engineering team
- Design key product screens including dashboards, onboarding flows, and data-heavy views
- Design marketing pages and landing page layouts
- Create original illustrations for the product, marketing site, blog, and social media
- Design and produce creative visuals, hero graphics, and branded artwork
- Create 3D renders, scenes, and animated visuals for use in marketing and the product interface
- Design and produce motion graphics and animations for web, social, and product onboarding
- Create UI micro-interactions and motion design specifications for developers to implement
- Conduct design reviews to ensure implementation matches intent
- Iterate on designs based on team feedback and evolving product requirements
- Document design decisions and guidelines for consistent use across the team
3. Tools & Software#
- Figma (primary tool - proficiency is required)
- FigJam or Miro (for ideation and wireframing)
- Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, or Premiere
- Blender, Cinema 4D, Spline, or any 3D design/animation tool
- Lottie / Rive or similar for web-ready animation export
- Any other design, illustration, or motion tool you are proficient in
4. Requirements#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Design, HCI, Fine Arts, Animation, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, and prototyping
- Solid understanding of design concepts and theory: typography, hierarchy, colour, spacing, and composition
- Ability to create original illustrations and creative artwork (digital or vector)
- Experience or strong interest in 3D design and animation (Blender, Spline, Cinema 4D, or similar)
- Ability to produce motion graphics or animated content for web or social media
- Ability to translate abstract product requirements into clear, polished visual designs
- Innovative thinking with a genuine interest in pushing creative boundaries
- A portfolio demonstrating UI, illustration, 3D, animation, or creative design work
- Good communication skills, able to articulate and defend design decisions
- Comfortable working with engineering teams and understanding technical constraints
- Willingness to take ownership of the entire visual design direction from day one
5. Nice to Have#
- Experience designing SaaS dashboards or data-heavy product interfaces
- Familiarity with design tokens and design system architecture
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS (to understand what is and is not feasible to implement)
- Experience with motion design or micro-interactions
- Experience working in an early-stage startup or agency environment
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Illustration or icon design skills
